After experiencing this moment myself, I was able to understand the emotion that these girls went through “regardless win or lose, that doesn’t define you” both of my sisters were able to stand on the podium and I thought that if I didn’t I would be disappointing them.
It is harder to lose than it is to win.
In America we are judged everyday based on what we do, what we wear, how we treat others. Once I understood that it was okay to not win, then I truly won. It may not matter if my grade didn’t pick me to win, but it does matter that I have gained enough confidence in myself to understand that winning isn’t the the purpose of life. Regardless, at the end of the day if you win or you lose, you are important and you are special. Never forget that.
